Talk about good times!!! In February of this year, (not so long ago) we all stepped out for the grand opening of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Designer Showhouse. This was a special showhouse, on the occasion of the orchestra’s 75th anniversary. Indeed, it was a beautiful night with the band playing. You could hear the rhythm of the cocktail shakers as the drinks were flowing. This stunning home was THE BUZZ as many of Atlanta’s talented designers, artists and dedicated craftsmen came to celebrate.
Whew! In typical showhouse fashion, we were all working up to the final hours with finishing touches and tweaks. Miraculously, it always gets done, thanks to the determination of the entire team from Atlanta Magazine, ADCO Construction and Harrison Design. The most rewarding part of participating in a showhouse is the camaraderie among peers and the friendships that thrive from working together in the weeks prior to the opening. It’s so exciting to see what everyone is creating.
ICYMI, Terracotta designed the guest suite overlooking the pool. Based on everyone’s creative vision from our design charette, this sophisticated guest retreat was a true concerto of many artists in different mediums. Take a look…
The natural light from the wall of expansive glass doors gave us gave us carte blanche to go with rich wood tones and a moody palette. The lighting is by Circa – Georgia born and based, boutique lighting curator of the most exquisite collections.
The bed was custom built by M2M, an upholstery studio with over 50 years experience, in a rich velvet fabric by Kravet fabrics. Both have been our dedicated partners in many, many projects.
Wendy, owner of This Faux House, is a classically trained artist and the force behind the billowing cloud of blue on our walls.
The architectural wood wall was crafted by Timberland Cabinets, specializing in custom millwork and built-in solutions. Their attention to detail and logistics make any kind of a challenge exciting and totally elegant!
The draperies, bench and decorative bolster pillow are custom from Jim Davis Designs, family owned and operated. We love Jim’s work and he makes installs seem like a party.
The lush blush velvet on the bench is Schumacher, a classic powerhouse of haute-home fashion.
We commissioned Sammie Leiter for the amazing abstract over the bed. Atlanta native and only 15 years old (!!), this young lady with developmental challenges is a published artist and collaborator with Elizabeth Stockton and Amberly Hui Hood of Studio 23.
Area rug and accent furniture including this yummy swivel chair is from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams – American made, responsibly sourced, family-friendly furniture that stylishly transitions from classic to contemporary.
The bathing beauty was photographed by Gabor Jurina, an internationally published fashion photographer and recognized artist.
Accessories and garden decor were sourced from Jason at Found Co. Decatur, whose aesthetics are elegant yet seemingly effortless.
