Small Space. BIG Personality.
If walls could talk, they would make huge statements. Adding bold patterns to your walls, is one way to completely transform your room without committing to a huge renovation. We regularly add color and pattern to our client’s spaces by covering their walls with tile or wallpaper. Check out some of our installations and transformations of our favorite “eye catching” powder rooms and baths to see what the walls have to say…
1> This modernized Indian damask print makes for an unexpected twist, mixed with traditional shiplap walls. It’s painterly lines and fresh color strike the perfect balance of preppy and bohemian. Serena & Lily Palmetto wallpaper in Blue/Khaki.
2> The ceilings talk too! One of our favorite design tricks is gracing the ceiling with a print. This graceful swirling geometric pattern has a worldly, refined glamour. Schumacher Whirlpool in Twilight.
3> This powder bath takes flight with whimsy, as birds and butterflies grab your attention. This pattern derives from a hand-printed 1960s wallcovering in Schumacher’s archives. Add one more dimension of fabulousness with a subtle sheen in the bright bold green (SW 6272 Houseplant) wainscoting. Schumacher Birds & Butterflies, Multi on White.
4> Blue in the loo. One layer is good….two layers are better. We doubled up on the blue tones with lavish Ann Sacks herringbone tiles and a deep rich teal and Thibaut Marble Venus in Dark Turquoise wall covering. The combination is magnificently moody.
5> A Moroccan-inspired shower wall for this pool-house bathroom reflects century old, sun-drenched Spanish designs. Get the look with these durable ceramic slabs in Faenza Azul by SomerTile, which have nine squares separated by scored grout lines. Less work, more time to swim.
6> Lost in translation? A pattern inspired by textiles of the Otomi people of Mexico and the centuries-old folk art of Scandinavia, designed with a modern vibe. Like many folk-art textiles across cultures, this pattern tells a story — but it is up to you to translate it. Folklore wallpaper by Hygge & West.
We hope we have inspired you, through our designs, to let your walls do the talking…powder rooms and baths are wonderful spaces to do something game changing without calling a plumber.
As always, thanks to Jeff Herr for the beautiful images. Images are of Terracotta Design Build’s work.
