The Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers presented Terracotta with three awards for the 2021 Design Excellence Competition. We are over the moon to be honored among our community of so many talented designers. Like many events this year, the celebration may have been different, however creativity endures, prevailing even stronger. 🥈 SILVER: Residential Renovation-Existing 🥈
THE SCOPE: Work within the existing footprint, improve functionality, and redesign the layout to be open to the dining room with plenty of space to entertain. Add a mudroom with useful laundry space, make every inch count, and make it stunning! Mission accomplished.
🥈 SILVER: Residential Renovation-Existing, Residence Under 3,000 SF 🥈
THE SCOPE: Re-imagine and expand a midcentury ranch to include a new master suite, a luxury bath with a dressing area, a family room/playroom, home office/guest room, another full bath, and a sizable laundry area with a mudroom, while still keeping the feel of the original house. Eager for the challenge, we designed a new streamlined two-story addition on the back of the house that is consistent with the modern sensibility of the initial reno, providing several spaces that would delight every member of the family, plus guests!
🥉 BRONZE: Residential Renovation-Existing, Singular Space 🥉
The Scope: Expand and update the great room, kitchen, and breakfast area into one open family friendly living space. First, a rarely used porch was enclosed, converting it into an expansive living area. To open it to the outdoors, we added full height windows with transoms above and double doors leading to an outdoor deck. The existing deck also got a makeover, to flow consistently with the new design. The lounging area is abundant with space for movie night, play dates, and plenty of Lego creations. Family friendly indeed. Totally chic. Livable and lovable space is possible —and most importantly, all in an eyeshot view of each other.
