Azul30A: Mar

Part 2

Mar. The Equal Sequel

Behind the red doors. Mar is the terrace level sister of Sol (featured in our last blog). Located at 10 San Juan Avenue and every bit as dazzling, Mar reflects the sea in both name and design. Let’s take a tour…

Outside is IN. Before we enter, let’s check out the front porch. Now more than ever, the best part about having an outdoor space is the opportunity to invite friends over. We’ve decked this one out with an outdoor sofa, comfortable cushions, decorative pillows, easy-to-move around chairs, and a dining table + chairs. —Plenty of opportunities for dining Al Fresco, trading fishing tales or snoozing in the breeze. No shoes required.

Come on in.  Welcome to a light & bright gathering space, designed with a palette of crisp white and contrasting navy, mixed with the perfect amount of cottage accents. We love the modern sensibility that the tongue and groove walls and ceiling bring to this casual setting.

The wood credenza under the big screen is stocked with beach reads and family game night fun.

Modern coastal. Chic without the shabby, however a hybrid. Clean lines combined with natural textures were selected with a light, deliberate, and minimalist approach. Handsome wood tones are mixed with soft fabrics in a comfortable yet modern way, establishing an aesthetic of it’s own sense of place.

In the Navy. Seaside modern, this kitchen appears cosmopolitan while filling every tall order for our beach guests, from feeding the fam or doing a load or two of laundry. In true Terracotta fashion, we’ve subtly hidden the washer/dryer behind a stylish mesh front built in. The ceiling-height cabinets are well appointed with metal pulls, while rattan accents, mid century chairs and open shelves complete this sophisticated look with a nod to the beach.

Connecting doors. The door right of the laundry nook leads to the stairway for the second level unit, Sol. This doorway is conveniently accessible to the upstairs if you have planned a stay in the whole house. Otherwise, it remains closed to provide private and separate accommodations for Mar and Sol guests.

Captain’s quarters. The master bedroom is streaming with natural light from double doors that lead to the terrace. Soft linens are complimented with a mix of stripes and indigo blocked dec pillows, along with the beachy boho vibe from the fringe cascading from the coverlet. We love a good sconce. These brass & white bedside sconces add a special detail of style and certainly a bit of ambient light for a night time novel. This design trick is a great solution to free up space on a nightstand.

The master bath follows the same crisp style, with contrasting tongue and groove walls, this time painted a dusty blue gloss. In the same hue, a wall of vertical subway tile behind the seamless glass shower doors offers yet another moment of gleaming modernity. The wood tone in the vanity balances the cool tones, reinforcing a clean contemporary feel.

Kool for Kiddos of all ages. —And here they are, the signature Azule30A bunks. Famous for their custom touch, and being eminently functional, so guests of all ages can retreat here. A 2nd bath at the end of the hall maintains the classic charm of this fun filled corridor. Sweet dreams.

Coast with us. Wake up to a brilliant sunrise, and play all day.

—And at the end of the day, who would want to miss a this sunset? What are you waiting for?

Plan a visit soon, and stay awhile.
